Amid reports that some tech CEOs will attend President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration Monday, Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., said Friday that it's "nice to see" them getting on board with the incoming 47th president.
"President Trump's strong leadership and influence is already being felt around the world, but also in the tech sector," Daines told Newsmax's "National Report." "As you know, we've really been battling some of the censorship issues going on with conservative voices, with the tech companies on the West Coast.
"It's nice to see them starting to come in and realize that they better stop fighting President Trump. They better start working with him to bring back fairness, to remove the censorship going on on social media platforms, to allow conservative voices to be heard on social media platforms."
Meta's Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon's Jeff Bezos, and TikTok's Shou Zi Chew are among the tech leaders expected to attend Trump's inauguration. Zuckerberg is also reportedly co-hosting a black tie reception on Inauguration Day to celebrate Trump's victory.
Since Trump's election in November, Daines said the U.S. and the world have been undergoing a change that's reminiscent of the national and global shift that surrounded President Ronald Reagan's election in 1980.
"The social order of this country is shifting, as you're starting to see the nonsensical DEI [Diversity, Equity, Inclusion] and some of these ESG [Environmental, Social, Governance] initiatives from corporate America are starting to be abandoned, thank God, combined with the world order starting to shift," Daines said. "[Canadian Prime Minister Justin] Trudeau has resigned, there's already a Hamas hostage deal in the Middle East, and President Trump has not yet even been sworn into office.
"It reminds me a lot of what happened back in 1980 when President Reagan was elected. Remember, the Iranians released 53 American hostages shortly after Reagan was sworn in."
Daines said the "conservative voice" or the "MAGA voice" rang out "loud and clear" this past election.
"Let's make sure it's heard loud and clear as it relates to technology," he said.
