Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who is running for president as a Republican, says the mainstream media is pulling for Democrat Hillary Clinton, but wouldn't be if she were a member of his party.
"Let's say a Republican admitted to conduct that on its face violates federal law and may well violate criminal statutes. The press would be in an outrage," Cruz said in an interview aired Sunday on
Fox News Channel's "Media Buzz."

Cruz was referencing the controversy over foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation made when Hillary Clinton was secretary of state and to large speaking fees generated by former President Bill Clinton which some on the right have attributed to attempts to curry favor should Hillary Clinton make it into the Oval Office herself.
"If this were a Republican, every day on every Sunday show, there would be a special prosecutor watch," Cruz said. "And yet the press quietly says it's just the Clintons being the Clintons."
Host Howard Kurtz pointed out that even the right-leaning editorial page of The Wall Street Journal has hammered him. Cruz said he has maintained all along that it isn't just a left-right issue, but one of the Democratic and Republican establishments against the American people.

Pointing to an event earlier in his presidential campaign, Cruz noted that local New Hampshire press was reporting how crowds at his events were far larger than his opponents. But national press focused on a little girl that sounded an alarm to her mother when Cruz said in his speech that "the world is on fire."
"The headline was 'Cruz comes to New Hampshire, startles a child, and snubs a goat,'" he said. "It was so silly as to be self-parodying."
The liberal press likes his mainstream GOP opponent Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor, Cruz said, because he more closely reflects their values.
"They look at moderate establishment Republicans and they say, 'Gosh, they sound the most like me,'" Cruz said.
