The Obama administration is hell bent on getting a deal, "any deal," with Iran as opposed to getting a deal that's good for the United States and the rest of the free world, Texas Rep. Ted Poe said Tuesday on
Newsmax TV's "America's Forum."
"They will get to the deadline this afternoon and they will postpone the final deal until June," he predicted. "They're going to come up with a deal to make a framework. The concern that Americans should have is the fact that the Iranians will not remove from their country the energy fuel to make nuclear weapons and send it to Russia and the deal, whenever it's finished, will still allow the Iranian government to make nuclear weapons probably a year after whenever the deal is concluded."

While President Barack Obama has vowed to veto
additional sanctions on Tehran, Poe said more sanctions are what's needed.
"They worked," he said. "The economy was being crippled, which is the key. The plan should be cripple the economy of Iran's government and hopefully have the people of Iran remove the totalitarian dictatorship of their country. That would be the best solution. The sanctions were working; that's why they're negotiating in the first place. We should impose more sanctions. The president says he's going to veto more sanctions."
Even surrounding Mideast nations are concerned about the
"backroom negotiations" taking place over a proposed deal, according to Poe, who said those countries are concerned that the U.S. is "giving away the fundamental rights in the Middle East because of this deal allowing Iran to be a nuclear power. The president should be more forthcoming to the American people and tell us exactly what's going on."
The White House made a calculated decision to pursue a closed-door agreement that would not be classified as a treaty, which would have required ratification by the Senate, something Obama knew would never happen, Poe said.
"He's trying to figure out some other way to have an agreement," said Poe. "He doesn't think he's going to get the support so he'll do it some other way."
