The United States needs to regain control of its pharmaceutical so it never needs to rely on countries like communist China to fight the coronavirus pandemic, singer/songwriter Ted Nugent, and his wife, Shemane, told Newsmax TV.
"The most important lesson ... is really more heartbreaking than the pandemic itself, that we the people were asleep at the wheel and we allowed past administrations to give the control of our medicines, antibiotics and pharmaceuticals to the communist, tyrannical Chinese enemy," Nugent told "American Agenda with Bob Sellers."
Nugent added, "That is the hardest and most painful lesson, but we damn well better learn that one."
"Become medical- and pharmaceutical-independent like the great President Donald Trump has done with energy independence," Nugent said.
Nugent said he's always believed in rugged individualism. He says he always keeps supplies on hand that allow him and his wife to be self-sufficient, even as the coronavirus pandemic has brought on shortages around the country.
It's a way of living he wants the country to adopt.
"I am trying to convey the life-and-death critical lessons. Number one: Always be prepared," Nugent said. "We were prepared before this pandemic struck."
