Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay compared the chaotic scene at the United States' border with Mexico to the "mob mentality" used by Democrats.
DeLay was on Newsmax TV's "Newsmax Now" on Monday and discussed the incident in Tijuana, Mexico, on Sunday that saw hundreds of migrants rush the U.S. border and throw projectiles at U.S. agents, who responded with tear gas to drive them back.
"It's amazing to me, as I watched the pictures of what happened [Sunday], this is the same kind of mob mentality that the Democrats have," DeLay said.
"The slogan was vote for Republicans, jobs not mobs. That's what this is. They don't believe in our laws; they don't want to assimilate themselves. They want to force themselves illegally into our country."
He added later, "They're not victims, they're a mob."

DeLay said the Border Patrol's decision to deploy tear gas was done to prevent illegal aliens from entering the U.S. — which happens to be in their job description.
"They're doing their job, they're protecting our borders, and they're keeping illegal people from coming in," DeLay said. "That's the bottom line."
