Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay told Newsmax TV the nation's former top spy John Brennan was "monetizing" his security clearance before the White House announced it is being revoked.
During an appearance on "Newsmax Now," the Texas Republican said Trump had no choice but to take the security credentials away from former CIA Director Brennan, a frequent Trump critic on Twitter and cable news.
"I think it's a long time coming," DeLay said. "I am so glad Trump takes the attitude in politics that there are consequences when you lie to the American people."
The White House said there are other current and former intelligence officials who could also lose their clearances. The cases are under review, press secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed.
"And not only Brennan, but the whole list that has been proposed to lose their security clearances have been proven to be liars," DeLay said. "And you don't allow people to have access to classified material and our deepest secrets that are out there lying and making money, monetizing a privilege."

Brennan, former FBI Director James Comey, and others on the White House's list played roles in the Department of Justice's Russia investigation, which is looking at Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election and whether the Trump campaign had an improper relationship with the Russians.
