President Donald Trump should either provide proof of his claim he was wiretapped by former President Barack Obama or "keep his mouth shut," former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, told Newsmax TV.
The top Republican and Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday said there is no evidence any surveillance was deployed at Trump Tower in New York City during the 2016 presidential race. House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., also said "no such wiretap existed."

So far, Trump has not backed down from his claim, insisting to Fox News' Tucker Carlson "some very interesting items coming to the forefront over the next two weeks" surrounding his charge.
But DeLay told Thursday's "The Steve Malzberg Show" it might be time to do just that.
"I thought he ought to keep his mouth shut and just let it go away, to be honest with you," DeLay said. "It was a statement, and if he can't back it up or have any basis for it, then just let it go away.
"But, he is the president of the United States, and he can invest this in a much better and much straightforward way than [with] the committees in the House or the Senate. And if there is something there, then he needs to investigate it with his own people."
