The Trump administration will be comprised of people who "would never have been identified by any of the traditional" GOP leaders, former congressman Tom Tancredo says.
In an interview with Newsmax TV host Steve Malzberg on "America Talks Live" Thursday, the former Colorado Republican lawmaker praised the incoming administration for vetting the best candidates to fill top Cabinet positions.
"What is great about so far about the Trump administration is that it's going to be made up of people that frankly would never have been identified by any of the traditional Republicans," he said.

"You would never see those Supreme Court justices, you would never see people like [Kansas Secretary of State] Kris Kobach and others who I knew well, and they are brilliant and they would be wonderful in these positions," he said. Kobach is serving currently as Trump's immigration adviser.
Tancredo said he prefers, however, administration candidates who have supported Trump during his presidential campaign.
"I just think that you have to look for people who are really dedicated to and really know the issues inside out and they're not there just for some sort of potted plant on the stage to enhance."
Tancredo also defended Trump's selection of Steve Bannon as his special counsel.
"All this junk said about him is all part of this massive plan to delegitimize this presidency," said Tancredo, who noted that he was hired as a Breitbart news columnist by Bannon.
"I've never seen anything like it ever in my life. They talk about us, the right, being divisive. The entire foundation of progressivism is based on dividing us all up into victimized groups, to tribalize us.... And yet they say we're divisive? My god man, look in a mirror, Mr. Progressive."
He also doubts incidents blamed on the election of Trump are all legitimate.
"We had something here in Colorado, somebody spray painted a car with Trump and a swastika because it was a car of a transgendered person," he said. "Like who would even know that? These things are all trumped up."
