Judicial Watch Editor: 'Back-Door Deals' Spur Kids' Immigration

Wednesday, 11 June 2014 11:44 AM EDT

Many of the immigrant minors flooding the U.S. border are older, sexually active teenagers, some of whom have criminal backgrounds and are affiliated with gangs in their native countries, Judicial Watch Editor Irene Garcia said Wednesday on Newsmax TV.

"Not all of the kids coming in are little kids," said Garcia, who edits Judicial Watch's blog Corruption Chronicles.

Garcia told hosts J.D. Hayworth and Morgan Thompson on "America's Forum" that the barrage of minors entering through Mexico has created an out-of-control disaster at jam-packed holding centers, especially the Nogales facility in Arizona.

"Back-door deals" between Central American diplomats and U.S. immigration officials are allowing the migration to happen, she sai.

"Diplomats in Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador are going on the record saying that U.S. immigration officials have made a deal with them to let these kids in," said Garcia, a former Los Angeles Times reporter.

"In fact, one Guatemalan consulate in Arizona said they've allocated a certain amount of money to open more consulates on the southern border. And the children, if they bring their original birth certificates, will be processed quicker."
