Fox News Channel bested all of its news rivals in the ratings last week, finishing in second place overall in cable prime time,
Mediaite reports.
Fox News placed second only to the History channel in total viewers.
Mediaite did not report exact figures, but said Fox News' numbers for last week were similar to those it got during its first-week coverage of the missing Malaysian airliner in early March. Last week, Republican primary battles the firestorm over the trade of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban detainees helped boost Fox News' ratings.
MSNBC ranked 29th overall and CNN 38th, Mediaite reported.
The ratings boost comes after Fox News' ratings hit a 12-year low for the month of May. Even then,
The Huffington Post reported, Fox News still beat MSNBC and CNN for the month.
Also, according to
The Hollywood Reporter, Fox News' "The Kelly File" beat its lead-in "The O'Reilly Factor" last week in the 25-54-year-old demographic. "O'Reilly" has for more than a decade been the highest-rated cable news program.
