Trump: Weiner a 'Sick Puppy' That NYC Doesn't Need

New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner is "a very sick puppy," and the city doesn't need him as a leader, says businessman Donald Trump.

"He's a deviant. He's got a real, real sickness," Trump said Wednesday on Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto."

Weiner's campaign is a big embarrassment to New York City, Trump said. "New York has enough problems without this."

Weiner served in the U.S. Congress representing New York, but was forced to resign in 2011 after it was revealed he sent lewd text messages and photos of himself to women online. He announced earlier this year he was running for mayor and was running first or second in recent polls.

He called a press conference with his wife, Huma Abedin, on Tuesday after website The Dirty posted more photos and text messages he had sent after his resignation to another woman. Those online conversations lasted more than a year after Weiner apologized and quit Congress.

"He's a very sick puppy. He's got a real problem," Trump said. But beyond that, Trump added, "He's a bad guy, and he would have done a terrible job."

Asked to elaborate on what he meant by "bad guy," Trump said, "He's a screamer and a shouter, and he's not nice to people. His staff can't stand him, and lots of people that know him can't stand him."

When Weiner first got into trouble no one stood by his side, Trump noted.

"He had nobody helping him, nobody defending him, and actually going out of their way to go get him," Trump said. "He's a guy that is a bad person, a bad way about him, and people don't like him, aside from his sickness."
