In 1992, the legendary Democratic strategist James Carville posted a sign at Bill Clinton's campaign headquarters in Little Rock, Arkansas. On that sign, Carville had three topics which he wanted the staff to emphasize. One of those topics was "The economy, stupid." This theme of course would be immortalized in American political folklore as "It's the economy, stupid."
Remarkably, the Clinton campaign kept it quite simple, basically arguing that everything that should be up is down, and everything that should be down is up. This strategy worked wonders in landing a comfortable victory for the Democrats in the presidential election.
Thirty-two years later, the Republican Party is primed to be the grand beneficiary of a supersize version of "It's the economy, stupid." It's the invasion, stupid!
I strongly believe that America should be proud of our history of welcoming immigrants into our country, but this is no longer an issue of regulating immigration. "invasion" is a strong word but describing this situation as anything less is simply disingenuous. Almost 8 million illegal immigrants have been encountered since Biden took office.
There are currently 407, 983 known felons who entered the country illegally and committed crimes here while waiting to be deported. 407, 983 criminals, that is more people than in the entire cities of Cleveland, or Tampa, and nearly double the population of Buffalo. Who lets almost half a million criminals stay in their country insisting it's "immigration" and not an "invasion"?
We are in 2024, child trafficking is exploding thanks to an open border; it is estimated that 72% of humans trafficked in the U.S. are immigrants. Last year, 169 people on the terrorist watch list were caught trying to enter our country. Last year, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized enough fentanyl to kill 6 billion people.
All of sudden the quick-witted and astute political strategists remaining on Biden's team —don't underestimate them — figured out that allowing millions of people to enter the country illegally every year has caused such unforeseen (to them) chaos and hardships that it will likely cost the Democrats not just the White House, but the Senate, and any chance to recapture the House. Hence this latest desperate farce about a "deal" on immigration.
Some notes for each of the RINO senators "negotiating with" (carrying water for) the Biden administration on immigration:
1) The Chamber of Commerce no longer influences the GOP base; you can accept this fact and adapt, or you can find out the hard way.
2) Real "asylum seekers" don't protest about which luxury hotel will be hosting them. Stop insulting people who have been genuinely tortured by comparing them with people arriving in climate-controlled buses receiving welcome packets and costly smartphones.
3) Any "solution" that doesn't provide complete funding for finishing and maintaining the wall is a non-governmental organization (NGO) funding scheme and nothing else.
4) Any number of illegals larger than zero allowed to cross the border is too much and a non-starter for "negotiations."
5) Sneaking in hundreds of thousands of new H-1B1 visas is why so many voters get discouraged and stay home when Donald Trump is not on the ballot.
The Democrats are negotiating as a means of diluting and dispersing blame on their invasion disaster. As one of the favorite courtesans of country club RINOS, Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., howls about the "immorality" of not striking a deal, Americans are far more concerned about the unprecedented quantities of drugs arriving to kill our kids —more than 112,000 young people in our country died from fentanyl just last year.
On a recent Tuesday afternoon in Brooklyn, students at James Madison High School were told to go home. They were also notified that the school would be closed to them the next day; 2,000 migrants would be temporarily relocated in their school. What open border advocates won't point out is that many students in NYC live so close to the poverty level that their only real meal of the day is provided in public school.
It may seem hard to believe: Only 14% of American hospital emergency rooms are certified to treat pediatric cases. In the past ten years, thousands of children have died because emergency rooms were not equipped to treat children. According to one study, children are four times as likely to die when being treated in a non-certified pediatric facility.
The federal government gives each hospital approximately $190,000 a year for emergency care for children. At the same time, our government allocates 1,500 times that much to non-governmental organizations (NGO) to assist in providing temporary shelter to migrants. Yes, you read that correctly: Last year our government paid $290,000,000 to NGOs for this.
Any senator or congressman would be making a serious mistake supporting a bill that provides even one more dollar for the accommodation of the millions of people here illegally.
It's the invasion, stupid.
