Harvard Prof. Emeritus Alan Dershowitz, perhaps America's leading civil libertarian and constitutional scholar, sounds the alarm Monday after The New York Times and other outlets reported federal prosecutors in Manhattan had executed a search warrant on the offices of Donald Trump's longtime personal legal counsel, Michael D. Cohen.
Dershowitz said he was unable to come up with a ready precedent for federal authorities raiding the offices of an attorney representing someone involved in a special counsel investigation. The Times reports that the FBI conducted a raid at Cohen's Rockefeller Center office. The FBI's haul from the office included: hard drives, business and tax records, emails, and at least one phone, according to published reports. Some correspondence between Trump and Cohen was also confiscated, according to the Times.
