More than 365 million Christians – or one in seven worldwide – face high levels of persecution and discrimination because of their faith, according to a new report by Open Doors International.

The World Watch List annual assessment shows that during the past five years, the situation has worsened, with an estimated increase of five million persecuted Christians. These incidents predominantly occur in China, North Korea, and Islamic-majority countries in the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa, with Nigeria reporting the highest number of fatalities.
