President Trump’s decision Saturday to delay the arrest and deportation of thousands of illegals reflects the formidable political and legal obstacles the administration faces in stemming a growing immigration crisis many of his Democratic opponents refuse to acknowledge.

As the White House and lawmakers on Capitol Hill grapple over what to do about the historically high number of undocumented immigrants — especially families — now seeking asylum, there are growing signs the United States is losing the battle to secure its own border.
