But the scorched-earth assault launched against President Trump’s choice for the High Court may set a new record for wild, unsubstantiated slams.
Perhaps that’s because the stakes are so high. It’s been widely noted that replacing swing-vote Justice Anthony Kennedy with Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, a 53-year-old thought to be a staunch conservative, could alter the court’s current ideological balance for decades to come.
