Experts: Virus May 'Hide' Then Return With Vengeance This Fall

Scientists warn the virus that causes COVID-19 disease might "go into hiding" over the summer to survive, only to re-emerge fiercer than ever in the fall as the weather becomes more conducive to its spread.

Arizona State University scientist Efrem Lim and his team recently uncovered a mutation of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, showing it dropped 81 genetic "letters." The mutation to a key protein feature of the virus potentially renders it less virulent.
