Dems' Strategy for the Supreme Court

Now that Democrats control the Senate, liberals will begin mounting a pressure campaign to force Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, 82, to retire so Joe Biden can replace him with a younger, progressive pick.

Democrats were unable to appoint a liberal justice to the bench after Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died under President Donald Trump’s watch. With control of the Senate, Trump was able to oversee the appointment of originalist Amy Coney Barrett, which strengthened the conservative’s control over the high court. He also appointed Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch, creating a conservative 6-3 majority.
