North Korea's threat to suspend preparations for the planned summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean strongman Kim Jong Un shows the Korean Peninsula remains a tinderbox that could erupt at any time.

If Trump brings peace to the peninsula and rids it of nuclear weapons, he will be on the short list for the Nobel Peace Prize. But if he stumbles diplomatically the result could be a "fire and fury" costing tens of thousands of lives.
