The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention touts the country's public drinking water as "one of the safest" in the world. But drinking water experts say that tap water isn't always as clean as it may appear. They say drinking water contains all types of contaminants that aren't easily detectable and can make people sick. And a new scandal in Delray Beach, Florida, where a water tank had not been cleaned in 30 years, has raised troubling questions about the safety of our water nationally.

What's more, an expert report found that nearly 40% of the U.S. population received their water from systems that violated the Safe Drinking Water Act.
