Fragile F-22 Fighters Could Leave US Vulnerable to Russia, China, Iran

As Hurricane Michael ravaged the Florida panhandle in October, ripping off roofs, washing out streets, and decimating businesses, it also blew the lid off the serious maintenance issues that are threatening to cripple the F-22 Raptor fighter jet program critical to U.S. defense.

Considered the world’s most capable air superiority fighter jet, the Raptor is an engineering marvel. It is one of only three operational, fifth-generation fighters in the world, along with the F-35 Raptor and China’s Chengdu J-20.
