The plan by North Korean despot Kim Jong Un to abandon a longstanding policy pursuing reconciliation with South Korea is raising concerns among Pyongyang watchers that 2024 is "shaping up to be a year for provocations."

But while some experts contend that Kim's New Year's declaration indicates Pyongyang is preparing for war, others don't believe North Korea has strategically decided to initiate an attack.
