The Academy Awards ceremony was so charged with political rhetoric Sunday night, numerous mentions by Hollywood stars about the #MeToo and "Time's Up" campaigns against sexual assault lost their power, conservative political strategist Jeffrey Lord told Newsmax TV on Monday.

"It's not that they don't have a valid concern and a valid issue, but I think where they miss their mark is that for decades the Oscars have been getting increasingly political," Lord, an associate political director under President Ronald Reagan, told host Miranda Khan on Monday's "America Talks Live."
