Stephen Moore to Newsmax TV: Extend But Reduce Unemployment Benefit

(Newsmax TV/"Greg Kelly Reports")

By    |   Wednesday, 22 July 2020 08:48 PM EDT

Heritage Foundation Chief Economist Stephen Moore on Wednesday endorsed the reported proposal that Congressional Republicans are considering of extending an enhanced federal unemployment compensation benefit but reducing it from $600 a week to $400 a month.

Moore told Newsmax TV that the latest U.S. Labor Department report says there are 5½ million unfilled jobs in the United States, some of which he attributed to the Coronavirus Aid, Recovery and Economic Security (CARES) Act enacted in March, which included the unemployment bonus but he said makes it more lucrative to remain unemployed.
