Until Trump, China Lavished Panama With Infrastructure, US Offered Little

In addition to talking about the Panama Canal, President-elect Donald Trump elevated Panama as one of the first countries to receive a Trump-nominated ambassador.

Trump has picked Miami-Dade County Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera to serve as U.S. ambassador to Panama and said, "Few understand Latin American politics as well as Kevin — He will do a FANTASTIC job representing our Nation's interests in Panama!"
