President Joe Biden’s meeting on Monday with new German Chancellor Olaf Scholz appears to be about answering one pivotal question: Whose side are you on?

As Russia reportedly edges closer to conflict with Ukraine, recent actions by Germany — such as blocking Estonia from sending weapons to Ukraine and British weapons flights to Ukraine curiously being detoured around German airspace — have raised eyebrows in the international community.
