Derailments Continue as Train Safety Regulations at Standstill

Six months after a train derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, sending toxic chemicals gushing into the local air and water supply, it appears that little has been done to increase safety measures to prevent similar accidents from occurring in the future.

Despite the regular occurrence of accidents and derailments nationwide, a bipartisan response to railway safety appears to have stalled — and might even be itself off the tracks.
