A leadership vacuum has hollowed out the U.S. military and left it with a "weak" force, according to a damning new report from The Heritage Foundation.

The group's 2024 Index of U.S. Military Strength notes that the U.S. military faces its greatest crisis since the 1970s when the American fighting force was seen as unprepared to confront the Soviets.
