The U.S. postal service's proposal to hike mail rates for newspapers, magazines, and periodicals as much as 40 percent over the next five years would force some magazines to go out of business and others to slash their frequency of publication, industry experts warn.
In December, the Postal Regulatory Commission issued a report warning the postal service's "overall financial health is poor," adding its "financial stability has not been maintained."
