With control of the Senate, coupled with the fallout from the breach of the Capitol, Democrats are expected to forge ahead with a plan that would make Washington, D.C. the 51st state of the union. But while the Dems could succeed in this endeavor the GOP has the ability to make them pay a heavy price.
Giving D.C. statehood would likely result in two more senators for the Democratic party, a shrewd political move by the dems. But the only way it can be achieved is by eliminating the Senate filibuster, which, in the long run, could be of enormous benefit to the GOP.
