Hogan Gidley is now the national press secretary for President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign, Politico reports.
Gidley served as a White House communications official for nearly three years before switching jobs. Now, he will take over the role that Kayleigh McEnany once filled. McEnany left the campaign in April to become White House press secretary.
Gidley’s new job comes on the heels of several campaign staffing changes. The campaign recently rehired 2016 campaign aide Jason Miller and promoted political adviser Bill Stepien’s role to deputy campaign manager as it gears up for the 2020 election.
Trump aides told Politico that Gidley will help with coordination between the White House and campaign.
Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner said in a statement that Gidley’s “two decades of prior campaign experience combined with his deep knowledge of the Administration make him an invaluable addition.”
Gidley has spent decades working in campaign politics, according to Politico. He became friendly with former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders after working on her father’s presidential campaigns. He also worked for Elizabeth Dole and Rick Santorum. He also served as executive director of the South Carolina Republican Party.
