Kentucky GOP to Grimes: Return Woody Allen Donation

Kentucky GOP to Grimes: Return Woody Allen Donation

Kentucky Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes is facing a Republican backlash over accepting a donation from filmmaker Woody Allen, who has been accused of child molestation by his adopted daughter.

The Republican Party in the Bluegrass State is calling on Grimes to return the $500 donation, which she apparently received on Sept. 26, Politico reported.

On Feb. 1, an "open letter" was published on a The New York Times blog by Dylan Farrow, the adopted daughter of Allen and Mia Farrow, accusing the filmmaker of molesting her when she was a young girl. Allen continues to deny the allegations, which first came out in 1993. He responded to Dylan's letter in the Times on Feb. 7.

According to the Kentucky Republican Party, Grimes has also accepted a donation from a Democratic state legislator who is accused of sexual harassment by several women.

The Kentucky Democrat is currently running for the U.S. Senate against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

"If she doesn't return the donations, we can only assume she either condones sexual harassment and disgustingly inappropriate behavior in the workplace, or she's more concerned with her liberal allies' campaign cash than the women of Kentucky," said Kelsey Cooper, Kentucky Republican Party spokeswoman.
