Former Florida Rep. Allen West has started a foundation.

“In full accordance with federal regulations, The Allen West Foundation has been established as a non-profit, charitable organization,” his former campaign spokeswoman, Michele Hickford, said on Friday in an email, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. “Further details as to the mission and activities of the Foundation will be released in the coming weeks.”

Hickford declined to respond to questions from the Sun-Sentinel on the foundation’s goals or its financing.

West’s latest campaign disclosure form, filed on Thursday with the Federal Election Commission in Washington, showed that he had transferred $250,000 as a charitable contribution to the Allen West Foundation.

On the same date, Dec. 28, his campaign fund made another $250,000 charitable donation to American Legacy Guardians, which shares the same post office box in Boca Raton, Fla., the Sun-Sentinel reports.

On Nov. 27, according to the campaign finance report, West had $1.5 million in cash. After the charitable donations and paying other bills, he had $914,000 on Dec. 31, the Sun-Sentinel reports.

West, who was defeated in November by Democrat Patrick Murphy, said earlier this month that he would be working for PJ Media and would be preparing to begin an Internet talk show, the Sun-Sentinel reports.
