Judge Andrew Napolitano slammed former FBI Director James Comey over memos that show he changed his statement about Hillary Clinton's handling of classified information.
Comey initially said that Clinton was "grossly negligent," according to a draft dated May 2, 2016, but a later draft, dated June 10, had Clinton listed as "extremely careless," according to newly reported memos, The Hill reports.
"James Comey thought he could pull a fast one on the American people by using a slightly less offensive sounding term — 'extremely careless' — and thereby exonerate her. But legally, it's the same thing," Napolitano told Fox News' "Fox & Friends."
Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, wrote to current FBI Director Christopher Wray seeking more details in a letter posted on the committee's website.
"Gross negligence in the handling of classified information is a criminal act," Grassley noted in the letter.
