Former President Donald Trump hailed a "big victory" Wednesday, as an Arizona judge ruled the forensic audit of the 2020 election results can continue to move forward despite Democrat opposition.
"Big victory today in Arizona," Trump wrote in a statement from his Save America PAC. "A highly respected Judge has just ruled that the forensic audit being done by the Arizona state Senate can and will continue."
Trump has pointed to Democrats' opposing transparency on election results in a key battleground state as a potential sign they have something "to hide."
"Over 100 Democrat lawyers were sent to fight against this audit," Trump's statement continued. "The results will be very interesting for the USA and the world to see!
"Why are the Democrats fighting so hard to hide the facts? I know why, and so does everyone else!"
A Republican-driven audit of the 2020 general election vote in Arizona's largest county will move forward after a state judge set aside Democratic Party concerns the recount may compromise the privacy of voter information.
Superior Court Judge Daniel Martin in Phoenix concluded Wednesday he is satisfied with the procedures used by Cyber Ninjas Inc., a Florida-based firm hired by Arizona Senate Republicans, to undertake the hand recount at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
"If the election is honest, they're not going to be sending 103 lawyers," Trump told "The Dan Bongino Show" earlier Wednesday. "What do they have to hide?"
Trump said Democrats should support investigations into the integrity of elections they claim were free and fair, adding: "They should want it, because it ends all this stuff" about election fraud.
"It was a totally crooked election," Trump said. "The whole 2020 election was crooked."
