Democrat Joe Biden has won Arizona, a state won by President Donald Trump in 2016, and Democratic challenger Mark Kelly has defeated incumbent Republican Sen. Martha McSally, Fox News projected Tuesday night.
The loss for Trump makes a win in Pennsylvania even more important. The president was declared the victor in Florida by Fox and was leading in Texas. The win is big for Biden in the event he loses another state he was expected to win.
The Trump campaign disputed the call, saying it called too early, Fox reported.
In the Senate race, Kelly is the first Democrat to take a Republican seat. Democrats hope to take control of the Senate where Republicans holda slim 53-47 majority. In Alabama, Republican Tommy Tuberville took the Democratic seat held by Democrat Doug Jones. Jones was appointed to fill the seat vacated by Jeff Sessions when Trump appoined him U.S. attorney general.
