Obama Joins Biden to Solicit Small Donors

By    |   Friday, 19 April 2024 10:36 PM EDT

President Joe Biden has brought in his old boss, former President Barack Obama, to help raise money from small-dollar donors, Axios reported.

Although Biden is far outpacing Trump when it comes to fundraising, Biden has seen his poll numbers slip from key demographics, in particular Blacks, Latinos, and younger voters.

A series of ads were drawn up to help.

While Biden will likely carry the Black vote again in 2024, recent polling suggests that Democrat support among Blacks has dropped significantly. A Wall Street Journal poll from last week that found Trump support among Black men in the seven swing states had risen to 30%.

The series of seven social media ads were designed to play off the familiar buddy routine Biden and Obama had when the two spent eight years together at the White House. The new ads take a softer, light-hearted approach to fundraising, hoping to make even the $3 contributor feel welcome.

"Did you know that by pitching in the cost of a morning cup of joe, you can help re-elect my friend Joe?" Obama says, standing beside Biden.

“Whether it's $3, or more, no gift is too small to make a difference," Biden responds.

“We all have a role to play to make sure that Donald Trump never steps foot in the Oval Office again," Biden says. "We are relying on you.”

The campaign seeks to duplicate the huge success of the March fundraiser when Biden and Obama last appeared together and raised more than $25 million in a celebrity filled event in New York City.

As of April, the Biden Campaign is far outpacing his opponent with $192 million cash on hand compared with only $93 million cash on hand for the Trump campaign.
