Rep. Ben Cline, R-Va., a member of the House Judiciary Committee, slammed Democrats and said they are putting their "disdain" for President Donald Trump ahead of the laws of the land.

Cline made his comments during a Friday interview with Hill.TV.

"It's their top priority — putting their disdain for the president and politics ahead of the Constitution, the rule of law, and the needs of this government and the needs of the people of this country," Cline said.

Cline said there are a number of issues — including Trump's trade deal that's designed to replace the North American Free Trade Agreement — that should be addressed before the end of the calendar year.

"What [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi is doing is not only is she not waiting for the facts to be put forward in the Judiciary Committee, but now she's actually saying we need to go ahead and commit the Senate to taking at least the month of January if not longer to take time away from these other issues and focus on impeachment," he said.

The Judiciary Committee has scheduled its next impeachment hearing for Monday. Pelosi has instructed Democrats on the panel to draft articles of impeachment against Trump.
