Some supporters of Bernie Sanders are looking into challenging Sen. Tim Kaine's selection by Hillary Clinton as the vice presidential nominee.
"There's serious interest right now and exploration as we speak of a formal challenge," Bernie Delegates Network coordinator Norman Solomon said,
Politico reports.
The network represents 1,250 of the 1,900 delegates that are pledged to support Sanders at the Democratic National Convention.
According to
Mother Jones, Sanders delegates have spoken to several politicians about the challenge. When asked for names of those politicians Solomon said, "We're working on it."
He added that he had "zero connection" with the Sanders campaign.
Donald Trump has attempted to stir dissension between Kaine and Sanders, including a tweet.
Mother Jones reports that tensions persist between delegates for Clinton and Sanders. "It's still very raw. They're processing a death in the family," one Clinton delegate said.
Another Clinton delegate told Mother Jones that the relationship between the groups of delegates was "acidic."
Sanders remained complimentary toward Kaine during an appearance on CNN, according to
USA Today.
"Tim is an extremely bright guy, a very nice guy," Sanders said adding, "On his worst, worst day, Tim Kaine is 100 times better than Trump will ever be."
