Former Vice President Joe Biden left the door open for a White House run in 2020, Fox Business reported.
Asked if he would consider running for president, Biden said, "Could I? Yes. Would I? Probably no."
His comments came during a finance conference in Las Vegas.
When pushed about a possible presidential run, he said he needed to accomplish four objectives first, including writing his own book and buying his wife a beach house, according to Fox Business.
"If I get those four things done and I'm healthy and viable and it looks like I'm the best person to do it, I may very well do it," he said.
Biden will be 78 by the next election.
Biden also said he would have been a better candidate than Hillary Clinton in 2016 race, The Hill reported.
"I never thought she was a great candidate," he said. "I thought I was a great candidate."
But he quickly added: "Hillary would have been a really good president."
