Blackwater founder Erik Prince could help clear up questions over the congressional investigation into Russian election interference.
According to CNN, Prince will attend an "open hearing in a closed space," meaning that although it will take place behind closed doors, a transcript will be made public, though probably with some parts redacted.
Prince wasn't a formal member of President Donald Trump's campaign team, but he did have an informal role as a foreign policy adviser. He and at least 11 other associates of Trump have been found to have had communications with Russians during the campaign or the transition. Prince secretly met with a Russian businessman associated with President Vladimir Putin in the Seychelles last January.
This meeting was included in a classified intelligence report during President Barack Obama's administration, and Prince was one of several Americans "unmasked" by then-national security adviser Susan Rice, CNN reported in September.
Prince's meeting with the unnamed businessman was arranged by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, who met with several Trump transition officials in December, including former strategist Steve Bannon, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former national security adviser Mike Flynn.
