Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., does not believe Mexico will pay for the border wall President Donald Trump plans.
"Uh, no," McConnell told Politico on Thursday.
McConnell questions the feasibility of the wall in some ways, but said he is confident in the abilities of the Homeland Security secretary, retired Marine Gen. John F. Kelly.
"I'm in favor of border security," McConnell said. "There are some places along the border where that's probably not the best way to secure the border. I think Gen. Kelly knows what he's doing, and the president picked an outstanding person to be in charge of Homeland Security, and my suspicion is that we will take his advice."
The Washington Post called McConnell's comment "refreshingly honest."
The Republican political establishment generally agrees with McConnell's take, according to The Post’s Chris Cillizza.
