WSJ/NBC Poll: Clinton, Sanders Neck-and-Neck in California

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has pulled to within two points of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in California in the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News/Marist poll.

The difference is within the poll's 4.2 percent margin of error.

The survey of likely primary voters was conducted May 29-31 during the Memorial Day weekend. California voters go to the polls on Tuesday.

Sanders leads Clinton 30 percent-19 percent with voters under 30, Politico notes.  He also leads with voters under 45 by 66 percent to 30 percent.

Clinton is more popular with older voters, however, beating Sanders 63 percent to 33 percent.

Though Clinton has a 17-point lead with voters identifying as Democrats (57 percent to 40 percent), Sanders is popular with independents, with whom he leads 68 percent to 26 percent.

The poll talked to 984 likely voters overall with 557 who said they are likely to vote in the Democratic primary.
