Even as Californians flock to the polls for Tuesday's presidential primary, an investigation has been ordered to determine how hundreds of dead voters in the state have been casting ballots from the grave year after year.
The move comes after a local
CBS TV station in Los Angeles uncovered the scandal.
"The news station found potentially 265 voters who are deceased, and records show they're still casting votes," according to a story posted on the station's website.
The CBS station said it compared voting records from the Secretary of State's office with Social Security death records to uncover the scandal.
Now the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has called for an investigation, demanding answers from election officials within 30 days, the station reported on its website.
"There have been voter irregularities in many states," the station quoted Mark Vafiades, chairman of the Los Angeles County Republican Party.
"Donald Trump is very concerned that this may be a very close election, and he's trying to shed light on this not only nationwide, but as you did here in California, shed light on the fact that there are a lot of voter irregularities that may be going on."
And
Breitbart reported: "While it is not clear how the 'so-called dead voters' voted, 86 were registered Republicans, and 146 were registered Democrats. Votes have been cast on behalf of some dead individuals for decades, over several election cycles."
