President Donald Trump finds himself at odds with his predecessor, now that former President Barack Obama is actively campaigning for Joe Biden ahead of Tuesday's election.
Obama is criss-crossing the country as he appeals to voters in key swing states, places like Florida and Pennsylvania — where the election could ultimately be decided. The nation's 44th president has been criticizing Trump, joining a chorus of other Democrats — and even some Republicans.
As The Hill pointed out, Obama is starting to get under Trump's skin.
Trump has called out Obama on Twitter and during rallies several times in recent days and weeks. He often refers to him by his full name, Barack Hussein Obama, to mock his middle name.
Trump has tried for months to align Biden with Obama, who he has accused of letting America's stockpile of medical crucial medical supplies get depleted, spying on the Trump campaign ahead of the 2016 election, and doing what he sees as a poor job on healthcare and foreign policy.
In fact, Trump and the Republican Party have trashed the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare, for years — but they have yet to pass legislation that would repeal and replace the 2010 law.
Trump's verbal sparring with Obama seems to go back to the 2011 White House Correspondents' Association dinner, when Obama poked fun at the real estate mogul — who was in attendance.
Eddie Vale, a Democratic Party strategist, told The Hill that targeting Obama is a poor choice.
"To get into a back and forth with a former president who is way more popular than him is both absolutely insane and perfectly captures Donald Trump," he said.
