Former presidential candidate Ben Carson said Friday Donald Trump knows his Twitter account is an issue on the campaign trail.
Trump, the leading Republican in the race for president, has often turned to
Twitter to criticize people or defend himself during his campaign that began last summer. Carson suspended his own campaign on March 4 and endorsed Trump for president a week later.
Carson told Joyce Kaufman on South Florida radio station 850 WFTL Trump's social media habits are becoming a problem.
"I think a number of us are working on that particular problem, because the liberal media in particular just knows that whenever he starts getting some moment, all we have to do is say something about him and going off and then we can get him distracted again," Carson said. "And if they feel that they have that as their ace in the hole, it's going to give them a lot of control and we don't want them to have that."
Carson added he thinks Trump "will come to understand. We talk about it, and a number of people have talked about it, including his family. And he knows that it's a problem. And the first part of solving the problem is recognizing that it exists."
Trump said last weekend he would
use Twitter "differently" if he becomes president.
