Rubio Will Oppose Tax Plan Unless It Ups Child Tax Credit

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., has told Senate leadership he will vote against the GOP tax plan if it does not include a larger expansion of a child tax credit, The Washington Post reported.

The newspaper is attributing its information to a Senate Republican source.

If Rubio carried through with his threat to vote against the bill, the GOP can afford to lose just one more vote and still get the bill approved, the newspaper said. The GOP controls 52 seats in the Senate and needs 50 to pass the bill. Vice President Mike Pence can cast a tie-breaking vote.

However, Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., already opposes the plan, the Post reported.

Rubio had been insisting on the child tax credit provision. He tweeted Friday:
