Clinton Supporter Bon Jovi Lets Christie Use His Music for Campaign

Despite hosting a fundraiser for Democrat Hillary Clinton Monday night, rock 'n' roller Jon Bon Jovi allowed New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to use his music at his presidential campaign announcement Tuesday.

The two became friends around the time that Hurricane Sandy blasted the east coast in the fall of 2012, according to a Mother Jones report.

Christie, a big fan of New Jersey's other favorite rocker Bruce Springsteen, approached Bon Jovi and asked for permission to use his songs, reports CNN.

"My friendship's apolitical and yes, I absolutely gave him permission to use the songs," Bon Jovi said in a statement, according to CNN.

Bon Jovi hosted a Clinton fundraiser Monday night in Red Bank, N.J. and has been a longtime Clinton supporter.

Christie often uses Bon Jovi's "Have a Nice Day" to open his town halls. During Tuesday's announcement speech at Livingston High School, Christie used four Bon Jovi songs — "Because We Can," "It's My Life," "We Weren't Born to Follow," and "Who Says You Can't Go Home" — according to a NJ.com story.

Christie is one of 14 Republicans in the race for president.
