Environmental Protection Agency head Scott Pruitt — under fire for staying in a Capitol Hill condo linked to a energy lobbyist – “never should have been” appointed to the Cabinet position in the first place, GOP New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Sunday.

In remarks on ABC News’ “This Week,” Christie lashed out at “a brutally unprofessional transition” that threw out vetting material compiled before Trump took office — calling out in particular former White House strategist Stephen Bannon and ex-deputy White House chief of staff Rick Dearborn.

“I don’t know how you survive this one, and if [Pruitt] has to go, it’s because he never should’ve been there in the first place,” Christie declared.

“This was a transition that didn’t vet people for this type of judgement issues, which I think could have been seen very easily in a lot of these people,” Christie added.
