Christopher Ruddy: Obama Going Route of Nixon

By    |   Tuesday, 12 November 2013 09:42 PM EST

President Barack Obama is going the route of the Nixon White House with efforts to cover up the unpleasant details of the Affordable Care Act, Newsmax Editor-in-Chief Christopher Ruddy said Tuesday on CNBC's "The Kudlow Report."

"I think what he's doing right now is what they used to say during the Nixon days: the modified limited hangout," Ruddy said, referring to the practice of letting out some previously unknown material to keep attention off more important information.

"He's admitted some mistakes, he admits he wants some changes," Ruddy said. "He'll blame it on the Republicans."

Appearing with James Carville, former adviser to President Bill Clinton, Ruddy said Clinton and Carville are the "great centered Democrats of American political life." Obama, he said, is not of the center.

The president wants no modifications to his signature healthcare law, Ruddy said, even though 5 million people have seen their coverage they liked canceled because it does not meet Obamacare guidelines.

Obama forcefully and repeatedly told the public, "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan." Now, with millions being kicked off plans they like, the administration has tried calling those plans insufficient.

But even Obamacare supporters, including Daily Beast columnist Kirsten Powers, have accused the president of dishonesty.

Powers said Tuesday on Fox News Channel's "Special Report with Brett Baier" that her own policy was not substandard, but it still was canceled and she will have to pay twice the premium for a similar policy.

"The other great mistruth," Ruddy told Kudlow, is that "Obama said everybody would get a $2,000 reduction in premium on average. The premiums are going way, way up."
